Bears Expected to Sign Allen Robinson, Reports Say

The Chicago Bears are aiming to give quarterback Mitchell Trubisky more weapons to work with, and according to multiple reports they will do just that when free agency opens on Wednesday.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bears are expected to sign free agent wide receiver Allen Robinson to a contract on Wednesday, barring any unforeseen setbacks.

Robinson, who appeared in just one game due to injury during the 2017 season, was widely considered one of the top free agents on the market, and he provides the Bears an instant upgrade at the position. He caught 73 passes for 883 yards and six touchdowns in the 2016 season, and will give Trubisky a downfield threat to open up the offense.

The Bears also are aiming to bring back Joshua Bellamy and Cameron Meredith, but they could still look to add more pieces when the new NFL league year begins on Wednesday. They have plenty of cap space, and they could stand to add even more receiver help after competing in 2017 with one of the worst receiver groups in the league.
