Reports; Bears Agree to Record Contract With Khalil Mack

The Chicago Bears have made a massive move, acquiring defensive end Khalil Mack from the Oakland Raiders and signing him to a new record contract.

The deal, which Mack reportedly agreed to Saturday, is for six years and over $140 million, with over $90 million in guaranteed money, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The deal is the richest ever paid to a defensive player in NFL history.

Mack was holding out from camp with the Oakland Raiders, who were unwilling to sign him to a long-term deal.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Bears will give up two first round picks for Mack, with their 2019 and 2020 selections heading to Oakland. The Bears will also send a third round pick in 2020 and a sixth round pick in next year's draft to the Raiders in the swap.

The Bears will get a second round pick in 2020 from the Raiders as part of the deal.

Mack, who was an All-Pro at multiple positions for the Raiders, started all 16 games for the team last season, registering 10.5 sacks and 61 total tackles. He already has 40.5 career sacks, and is widely viewed as one of the top pass rushers in the NFL.

The Green Bay Packers were also rumored to be interested in Mack, so the Bears not only bolster their own defense but also prevented a divisional rival from getting better.
