Eddie Jackson Injures Ankle in Bears' Win Over Packers

Jackson hurt the ankle after intercepting Aaron Rodgers' fourth quarter pass

The Chicago Bears are celebrating a division title on Sunday at Soldier Field, but they’re also breathing a sigh of relief after safety Eddie Jackson left the game with an injury.

Jackson, who intercepted a pass from Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the fourth quarter of the game, appeared to twist his ankle as he returned the ball, and was helped off the field to the locker room shortly afterward.

After the game, Jackson was spotted by reporters in the Bears’ locker room wearing a walking boot on his right ankle.

Head coach Matt Nagy called the injury a right ankle sprain, and said that the team will know more after further testing within the next 24 to 48 hours.

Fortunately for Nagy and Jackson, the Bears already have a playoff spot and a home playoff game lined up with two weeks to go in the regular season, so the safety could have time to rest the injury. The Bears all but have the third seed locked up in the NFC after the Dallas Cowboys lost to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, but there is still an outside possibility that they could ascend to the top-two in the standings if the New Orleans Saints or Los Angeles Rams falter down the stretch.
