Chicago Bears K Cody Parkey to Work Out at Soldier Field This Week

Parkey missed two field goals and two extra points in the Bears' Sunday win

Chicago Bears kicker Cody Parkey had a day to forget against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, but now he’s using an interesting tactic to avoid a repeat performance ahead of the team’s coming game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Parkey, who missed two field goals and two extra points against the Lions at Soldier Field, will carpool down to the stadium on Wednesday and Thursday to practice in similar conditions to what he will face in prime time against the Vikings this weekend.

“It can’t hurt,” he told media members Wednesday.

Parkey will be joined by holder Pat O’Donnell and long snapper Patrick Scales for the practice sessions at the stadium. Special Teams Coordinator Chris Tabor will also be present, according to the team.

“It’s the same practice, just a change of venue,” Scales told WGN’s Adam Hoge. “I think it will help.”

All four of Parkey’s missed kicks hit the uprights at Soldier Field, causing fans to boo the kicker. He signed a four-year deal with the Bears over the offseason, and has largely been successful aside from Sunday, making all 28 of his point-after tries and 13 of his 16 field goals attempts prior to the Lions game.
