Urlacher Unexpectedly Drops Out of Bears' Anniversary Weekend, Citing Illness

Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher said he will no longer be able to attend the Bears 100 Celebration Weekend in Rosemont due to an apparent illness

The Chicago Bears are celebrating their 100th anniversary with a big weekend, but one of the team’s most iconic players just pulled out of the event.

Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher said he will no longer be able to attend the Bears 100 Celebration Weekend in Rosemont due to an apparent illness.

“Something I ate must have got the best of me,” Urlacher tweeted Friday afternoon. “Sorry I won’t be able to see all you bears fans! #beardown”

The Bears also confirmed the news, tweeting “We’ll miss you, #54. Get well soon!”

Last-minute tickets are still available at the doors of the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, the team said.

As part of that celebration, Bears from the past and present will be on hand for the festivities, including kick returner Devin Hester.

Numerous Bears Hall of Famers are also expected to be in the house, including Mike Ditka, Dick Butkus, Gale Sayers and Richard Dent.

According to the event website, current Bears Khalil Mack, Akiem Hicks, and Mitchell Trubisky will all be in attendance, along with Bears alumni like Matt Forte, Olin Kreutz, Jim McMahon, and Charles Tillman.
