Swimming bans at all but two of Chicago's 27 beaches were lifted Wednesday morning.
Beach-goers were still not allowed to go into the water at Montrose Beach, Oak Street Beach, and at South Shore Beach. A swim advisory remained in effect at Humboldt Beach, Chicago's inland beach.
The bans were put in place at the beaches along the city's 26 miles of shorelines on Tuesday after a dual line of storms lashed the metropolitan area with high winds and torrential rain.
All of that rainfall prompted water management officials to open locks in Chicago and Wilmette, allowing waste water to enter Lake Michigan.
