Chicago Bartender Once Profiled by New York Times Charged With New Orleans Rape

A well-known mixologist in Chicago’s bar and dining scene was arrested in connection to a 2015 rape in New Orleans, according to authorities and a New Orleans newspaper.

Adam Seger, 42, was charged with rape after being arrested Monday. He is held by the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office in lieu of $25,000, according to information on the agency’s website.

According to The Times-Picayune, a man told police he was visiting New Orleans from New York. He attended a party Seger was throwing, the newspaper reports, citing an arrest warrant. The man then fell asleep in a chair near a pool after having “numerous” alcoholic beverages, according to the report. When he awoke, Seger was performing an “unwanted” sex act on him, according the report. He told Seger to stop, according to the report, but Seger continued to touch him.

Seger did apologize to the man the following day, The Times-Picayune reports, citing the warrant.

"I thought I was in a safe environment with friends and woke up to being taken advantage of and sexually assaulted," the man said in a social media post, according to the warrant.

Seger allegedly sent a bottle of champagne to the alleged victim’s table while he was having dinner with friends several nights later, the report says. The following day the man reported the alleged assault to the police. According to the warrant, there are photos of the alleged assault as it was in progress, the paper wrote.

Seger’s attorney declined to comment on the case, the newspaper reported.

Seger was profiled by the New York Times in 2016.
