A round of storms hit the Chicago area overnight, bringing heavy rain, hail and high winds to the region that left behind damage in their wake.

Nearly all of the Chicago area was under a Flash Flood Watch early Thursday through 10 a.m. Lake, Kane, McHenry, DuPage, and Cook counties were under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning through Wednesday evening, according to the National Weather Service.
Nearly 100 flights were canceled at O'Hare Airport, with average delays of around 45 minutes. Midway Airport saw dozens of flights canceled as well.
The storms also left thousands of people without power. Roughly 5,200 customers in the Chicago area lost electricity, according to ComEd, who deployed crews to restore service.

Storms are expected to fade by Thursday morning, paving the way for another day of mostly cloudy skies, humid weather and the chance for an occasional passing shower or storm.
By the late afternoon and evening Thursday, however, more storms are possible, once again bringing the threat for severe conditions. [[481608381, C]]
Friday looks to be mostly cloudy with few morning showers likely. Highs will stay in the low- to mid-70s.
