Chicago Area to End January on Warmer Note

Chicago will likely end the month of January with an unusual temperature rise.

Though the week has already started off on a warmer note, with highs Monday expected to be near 40 degrees, conditions will cool down before a warming trend begins later this week.

Light rain showers will move in late Monday afternoon and evening, mixing with snow showers as temperatures drop overnight into Tuesday morning.

Tuesday’s highs will dip into the low-30s, falling into the 20s by Wednesday.

Thursday begins a warming trend as temps return to the mid-30s before rising near 40 degrees Friday. Saturday could see unseasonable highs in the mid-40s.

Light snow showers are possible Sunday as highs return to the mid-30s for the last day of the month.

Note: This time last year, the Chicago area was bracing for the major winter storm that would eventually bring 19 inches of snow on Super Bowl Sunday.
