Occasional Sunshine, Flurries on Tap for Saturday

Snowfall won't accumulate on Saturday, but it will on Sunday

The Chicago-area will get a mix of clouds and sun on to kick off the weekend, but the area could see some flurries too.

Fortunately for residents, the snow will not accumulate on Saturday as the weekend gets underway. The chance of precipitation stands between 20 and 30 percent for most of the area, but don’t be surprised to see a snowflake or too as the day moves along.

The temperatures on Saturday will be more seasonal than they were on Friday, as the Chicago-area can expect the high to settle in around 30 degrees.

The area will remain mostly cloudy throughout the day, but occasional peeks of sunshine will occur, especially later in the afternoon, according to the NBC 5 Storm Team.

That will all change beginning on Sunday, as another round of snow will hit the area. This time, some accumulations will occur, as areas north of I-80 can expect to see anywhere from two to three inches of fresh snow fall.

South of the interstate, snowfall totals will likely top out around one to two inches.

As the new week begins, the area will still have a chance of seeing some occasional flurries, but temperatures will remain steady, with highs ranging from the high 20s to the low 30s in most areas on Monday and Tuesday.
