CDOT Announces Bridge Closures as Preps Begin for Boating Season

A total of seven bridges will be tested before boating season begins

The Chicago Department of Transportation has announced its schedule for bridge testing as the city prepares for the spring boating season.

Beginning on Monday, the city will close bridges over the Chicago River to put them through their paces ahead of the boating season, and they will begin with the Jackson Street bridge, according to a press release.

Here is the full schedule of closures, along with detour information:

March 18: Jackson Street (Eastbound detour: Jackson, Clinton, Harrison, Franklin, Jackson)

March 19: Adams Street (Westbound detour: Adams, Franklin, Van Buren, Canal, Adams)

March 20: Monroe Street (Eastbound detour: Monroe, Clinton, Adams, Franklin, Monroe)

March 21: Madison Street (Eastbound detour: Madison, Wacker, Randolph, Clinton, Madison)

March 25: Washington Street (Eastbound detour: Washington, Clinton, Monroe, Wacker, Washington)

March 29: Randolph Street (Westbound detour: Randolph, Wacker, Madison, Canal, Randolph)

April 1: State Street (Northbound: State, Wacker, Dearborn, Kinzie, State. Southbound: State, Kinzie, Clark, Wacker, State)

The bridges will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the affected days.
