A 5-year-old was seriously injured after being hit by a car Friday night in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.
The car did not stop following the crash, police said.
Emergency crews responded at 8:02 p.m. to the incident at 8115 S. Evans Ave., Fire Media Affairs Chief Joe Roccasalva said.
The 5-year-old girl was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital in serious to critical condition, Roccasalva said. Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
Police did not have a detailed description of the car, but it was believed to be gray in color, Alfaro said, citing a preliminary report.
