Christmas Eve Bank Robber Struck Twice Previously: Cops

Chase Bank at Chicago and Clark robbed shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday

Bah, humbug!

A Chase Bank branch on the Near North Side was robbed Saturday afternoon.

No one was injured, but police said a an older man with a scruffy beard wearing soiled clothing, faded black jeans and a skull cap -- walked into the bank at West Chicago Avenue and North Clark Street, showed a note to the teller and walked off with cash.

It happened at about 12:45 p.m., police spokesman John Mirabelli said.

No weapon was displayed, he said.

According to unconfirmed dispatch reports, the man took a “large amount of money.”

The robber is suspected of being the same man who got away with money from a North Community Bank branch on Nov. 29 and a Chase Bank branch on Dec. 7.
