Charges Pending Against Driver in Deadly Hit-and-Run

Charges were pending early Tuesday against the suspect who police say hit a young father with a pickup truck on Chicago's South Side.

The incident took place at around 3 p.m. in the 100 block of West 87th Street in the city's West Chatham neighborhood, according to police.

Carlos Posadas, a 22-year-old father of two, was working on a job to repair a car in the parking lot of an Auto Zone when someone in a black Ford pickup truck drove up and hit him with the truck, officials said.

Authorities said Posadas and the driver had previously had an argument over another potential repair job, and the driver deliberately ran Posadas over and kept going.

Posadas was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The driver fled the scene but was later apprehended, officials said. Charges were pending early Tuesday.
