Celebrating Pi Day: Chicago Pie-Themed Events, Deals

As mathematical geeks anticipate the annual celebration of Pi Day, foodies in the Chicago-area are also choosing to celebrate the never-ending number that begins with 3.14, with the excuse of finding the best pie-themed deals around the city Wednesday.

In honor of this “math holiday,” several restaurants are selling circular-shaped foods such as pizza and pies for just $3.14.

Here’s a list of some of the food locations:

Whole Foods Market and Pick’n Save has the deal for its large baked pies.

The Boston Market is said to have discounts on pies, fries and apparently, free ice cream.

Pizzerias such as Bertucci’s, BJ’s Brewhouse & Restaurant, Blaze Pizza, Cici’s,Giordano’s, Papa Murphy’s, Fired Pie, Firenza Pizza, Flippers Pizzeria, Hungry Howie’s, Il Vicino Wood Oven Pizza, The Pizza Press, Urban Bricks and Your Pie will reportedly offer full-sized pizzas for the Pi Day price (although it is advised to call ahead since offers can vary by location).

Sadly, Chicago is not on the list but if locals plan on getting married this Pi Day in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore or Washington D.C., &pizza is throwing free weddings at their restaurants in those four cities.

Sightseers are also in for a treat! Several events are scheduled to take place across the city as well.
