Teens Held on Caustic Liquid Attack

Attacker burned herself while tossing acid on relatives during argument, police say

Bond was set Friday for three people charged for a Wednesday night attack in Ford Heights in which a caustic liquid substance was thrown in the faces of three relatives.

Kiana Richmond, 17, Janet Richmond, 18, and a 15-year-old juvenile, all of the 21700 block of Richmond Street in Sauk Village, were each charged with three counts of heinous battery and three counts of aggravated domestic battery.

Bond was set at $20,000 each for Kiana Richmond and Janet Richmond. The 15-year-old is being processed at the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center.

All three are accused of plotting to throw a caustic liquid substance at three female relatives during an argument in front of the home.

Police say Kiana Richmond was the one who threw the liquid. She changed her acid-burned clothing and tried to take a shower, but ultimately called an ambulance because he skin was burning.  She was released from Loyola Medical Center's burn unit on Thursday and taken into police custody.

Janet Richmond and the juvenile are accused of working with Kiana Richmond to get the liquid and help her carry out the attack.

The victims, 18-, 25- and 41-year-old females, had burns to their face, arms and chest and were being treated.
