1 Killed When Metra Train, Car Collide on Northwest Side

One person was killed when a Metra train struck a car on Chicago's Northwest Side Thursday morning, officials said. 

Just after 7 a.m., Train 610 on Metra’s UP-Northwest Line hit a car near the intersection of Northwest Highway and Austin Avenue in the city's Jefferson Park neighborhood, a Metra spokesperson said. 

All inbound and outbound trains on Metra's UP-NW Line were stopped near the Gladstone Park station as emergency crews responded to the fatal accident.
