Driver Hospitalized After Crashing Into Glenview Home

A driver was taken to a hospital but a homeowner escaped injury when a vehicle crashed into a home in north suburban Glenview on Thursday morning.

Attorney Marty Abrams was in his kitchen, drinking coffee and preparing for court, when his plans for the day changed in an instant.

"I heard a roar. I thought it was the landscaper's lawnmower, and then it crashed into my house. So I'm thinking they lost control of the lawnmower," Abrams said as crews worked on cleaning up the mess left behind when the pickup truck smashed into his den.

A jogger who witnessed the crash said the vehicle clipped a mailbox before barreling toward Abrams' home, on the 4400 block of Hammersmith Lane, at around 7:30 a.m.

Sgt. Patrick Schuster with the Glenview Police Department said one person was in the kitchen of the hospital, on the 4400 block of Hammersmith Lane, when the car smashed through the wall of a den around 7:30 a.m.

The driver was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. It wasn't known by midday whether drugs or alcohol or a medical emergency played a role in the crash.
