Calumet City Baby Dies After Being Burned in Scalding Bath Water: Police

A man has been arrested after a 1-year-old boy who suffered burns to his body from hot bath water died in Calumet City, police said. 

Police were called to 1600 block of Astor at 12:30 a.m., according to Calumet City Assistant Police Chief Tom DiFiori. When officers arrived, an infant burned from the waist down was seen laying lifeless on the living room floor.

Officers tried to revive the baby, who was identified as Noah Rudder, with CPR before the child was transported to St. Margaret’s Hospital in Hammond where the baby was pronounced dead at 1:55 a.m., DiFiori said.

A man has been taken into custody in the incident, but no charges have been filed as of Thursday afternoon, DiFiori said. It was not immediately clear if the man was the father of the baby.
