Bushrod Injured in Practice, Status Unclear for Sunday

The Chicago Bears haven't had much good news on the health front for their offensive line this season, and things took another step back during practice on Wednesday afternoon.

While talking to the media on Thursday, Bears head coach Marc Trestman said that left tackle Jermon Bushrod suffered a knee injury in the Wednesday workout, but he declined to discuss what the lineman's status would be for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers.

The Bears are already without two of their starting linemen, as Matt Slauson and Roberto Garza have each missed the team's last three games. Slauson is reportedly nearing a return to the team, having practiced on a limited basis so far this week, but it'd be hard to imagine that he could just jump back into the swing of things after having three weeks off.

As it stands right now, the Bears would either have to start Charles Leno Jr. at left tackle if Bushrod is still out, or they could go with Eben Britton at the position. If Slauson does return, that will take some of the pressure off, and would also mean that Michael Ola could slide over to left tackle if need be.
