9 Injured in Crash Involving Van, Megabus

There was significant snowfall at the time of the crash and the entire Chicago area was under a Winter Weather Advisory

Eight children and one adult were injured when a Megabus and a day care van collided Wednesday morning on Chicago's south side.

Another 28 people declined medical treatment after the 7:30 a.m. crash on Interstate 90/94 -- the Dan Ryan Expressway -- near 51st Street, according to officials from the Chicago Fire Department and the Illinois State Police.

Three were taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, three were taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center and two were taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, said fire department spokesman Juan Hernandez. All the injuries were minor, he said.

The adult was transported to taken to Saint Bernard and was also listed in stable condition, Hernandez said.

The ramp at 51st Street was reopen as of 8 a.m.
