Roland “Smiling Man” Burris

When Sen. Roland Burris marched in Chicago's St. Patrick's Day parade last month, he wasn't very well-received.

Parade-goers "pointed derisively and chuckled," we reported.

The scene was much different 16 years ago, when Burris, credited as "Smiling Man," made a brief appearance in the 1993 movie "The Fugitive."

Burris' big scene is about halfway into the film, as U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard (played by Tommy Lee Jones) chases prison escapee Dr. Richard Kimble (Harrison Ford) through downtown Chicago during the St. Patrick's Day parade.


Burris was Illinois' Attorney General at the time and filmmakers shot the scene during the actual parade.  See him at the 1:00 mark in the video below:
