Burke and Emanuel Still Haven't Talked

They're the two most powerful politicians in Chicago. But Alderman Ed Burke and Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel still haven't spoken since Emanuel was swept into office February 22.

"I've written him a letter to wish him good luck," Alderman Burke said at Wednesday's city council meeting. He said the two have yet to meet up, however.

Not for lack of desire, Burke said, just business.

"I think there's great issues that are facing Chicago and it seems to me there is a great feeling of good will and I think the Mayor-elect will be a great success," Burke said.

Plenty of political watchers expect the two men to have a contentious relationship after Emanuel takes office. He'll be sworn in during an inauguration ceremony on May 16.
