Could Notre Dame Coach Brian Kelly Land in Chicago?

Notre Dame's national championship run was impressive, so it's not surprising to hear head coach Brian Kelly's name in in the mix for any of the NFL's many head coaching openings. With Chicago's close ties to Notre Dame, is it possible Kelly could join the long list of Bears' interviews

Don't count on it.

Kelly reportedly met with the Eagles after the Irish lost the national championship game on Monday night. The Eagles also reportedly are looking at former Bears' coach Lovie Smith. But there are two reasons you shouldn't expect to see Kelly making the drive down I-90 to Chicago.

For one, Bears' general manager Phil Emery wants a coach with NFL experience. Before Notre Dame, Kelly was with Cincinnati and Central Michigan but has never worked in the pros.

Secondly, Kelly has little reason to leave Notre Dame. A raise and a contract extension are likely in the near future, and a dalliance with the NFL is more about raising his price than anything.

While it wouldn't be surprising to see the Bears meet with a college coach, it's not likely to be Kelly.
