Breaking Down the Remains of the Season

With nine games left to go, let's take a game-by-game look at the Bears schedule, and even be crazy and make some predictions about how the season will go.

Mon, Nov 7, Philadelphia Eagles -- Despite making the biggest splash in free agent signings, they have not turned into the Dream Team that anyone expected. If the Bears defense could cause Michael Vick to go on an interception run, like they did against Josh Freeman, then it should be a desperately needed road win. Prediction: Win

Sun, Nov 13, Detroit Lions -- Just as the Bears need a road win that isn't in England, they also need a divisional win. The Lions have sputtered after an outstanding start, and much will revolve around the health of QB Matt Stafford's ankle. To keep playoff hopes alive, the Bears need to pick up a win from either the Packers or the Lions. A home game against Detroit is a much better bet than a road game in Green Bay. Prediction: Loss

Sun, Nov 20, San Diego Chargers
-- The Chargers are a lot like the Bears, beating up on bad teams while being run over by better teams. Philip Rivers has not been in Pro Bowl form all season, which could leave an opening for the Bears D to take over. Prediction: Win

Sun, Nov 27, Oakland Raiders -- Though the game will be in Oakland, a notoriously difficult place to play, the tenuous (to put it mildly) situation at QB and the hobbled Darren McFadden makes this a much easier game for the Bears. Prediction: Win

Sun, Dec 4, Kansas City Chiefs -- Stopping big plays is the key to the Bears defense, and Kansas City thrives on the big play. Receiver Dwayne Bowe leads the league in yards per catch. If the Bears can Bowe and Steve Breaston from getting downfield, and Jay Cutler can avoid the sticky hands of Brandon Flowers, this will be a road win. Prediction: Win:

Sun, Dec 11, Denver Broncos -- Will Tim Tebow still perform miracles come December? It's hard to get a read on who Denver will be in six weeks when they don't know who they are right now. Their defense is just as much in flux as their offense, and that takes a long time to figure out. Prediction: Win

Sun, Dec 18, Seattle Seahawks -- Last season, the Bears loss to the Seahawks during the regular season was one of the lowpoints of the season. With a change in QB, an injured RB and a 3-6 loss to the Browns under their belt, this team is not the same one who lucked their way into the playoffs last year. Prediction: Win

Sun, Dec 25, Green Bay Packers
-- Lambeau Field. Christmas Day. (Hopefully) playoff implications. Bears-Packers. There is no way that this game doesn't become a classic. The real question is if the Bears will be able to cool off the hottest man in football in Aaron Rodgers. Though this game is two months away, there is no reason to believe that he still won't be lighting up defenses by Christmas. Prediction: Loss

Sun, Jan 1, Minnesota Vikings -- The Vikings are terrible. The Bears beat up on them in the first game of the season, and this one will likely have playoff implications. This is also not going to be pretty. In the Lovie Smith era, the Bears are 2-5 in the last game of the season. Nothing is guaranteed in this game. Prediction: Loss

That will make the Bears 10-6, which could get them in the playoffs. The Giants didn't make it in with the same record last season. Considering how wide open the NFC is this year, anything is possible.
