Breaking Down the Blackhawks' Potential Playoff Scenarios

The Chicago Blackhawks lost by a score of 2-1 to the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night, giving the Blues the Central Division championship and locking the Nashville Predators into the second seed in the division.

The loss means that the Blackhawks will open the postseason on the road, but which team will they be facing off with? To help explain the different scenarios that could unfold on the season's final day on Saturday, we've compiled a list to help clear things up.

The Blackhawks can play one of three teams in the first round of the playoffs: the Blues, the Predators, and the Anaheim Ducks.

The Blackhawks play the Predators in the first round if:

-They get at least one point against the Avalanche on Saturday.

OR

-The Minnesota Wild lose to the Blues on Saturday.

The Blackhawks play the Blues in the first round if:

-They lose in regulation AND Minnesota wins in regulation.

The Blackhawks play the Ducks in the first round if:

-They lose in regulation AND Minnesota wins in overtime or a shootout AND the Ducks lose in regulation to the Coyotes.
