Kenosha Shooting: Teen Suspect Taken Into Custody

The 15-year-old suspect in a fatal shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was taken into custody early Friday, according to police.

Detectives took Martice Fuller into custody without further incident at around 6:25 a.m. in Racine, Kenosha police said in a statement, adding that authorities were not seeking any further persons of interest in the case and that further information would be released by 10 a.m.

Bradford High School in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was closed Friday as police searched for Fuller following the shooting that left a teenage girl dead and her mother wounded the day before.

Authorities were called to a residence in the 10900 block of 66 Street in Kenosha at around 3 p.m. Thursday, according to police, for a report of two people shot. When they arrived on scene, officials said they found the two victims, a 16-year-old girl and a 39-year-old woman, inside the home with gunshot wounds.

The 16-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said, and the woman was taken to an area hospital where she was listed in serious but stable condition.

Police later identified the teen as Kaylie Juga, who was a student at Bradford, and the woman as Kaylie's mother.

Authorities on Thursday evening identified Fuller as a person of interest in the case, saying he had a relationship with Kaylie and that he had fled the scene of the shooting.

Kenosha Unified School District sent a phone message out to Bradford families at around 5 a.m. stating that the school would be closed and all activities canceled for the day for the safety of students and staff following Thursday's shooting.

The message said there would be an additional police presence in and around the community for an "added level of security."

After Fuller was taken into custody, school officials said that Bradford would remain closed, with the district sending its "sincere condolences to the Juga family."

"Our thoughts will be with them as the navigate the difficult days, weeks and months ahead," the district's statement said, adding that counseling services would be available for students and staff needing support following the shooting.

Further information on the shooting was not immediately available.
