Boy's 1980 Hit-And-Run Death was Actually Assault, Murder

It took 28 years for Ronald Rice to allegedly confess to a sexual assault and murder of an 11-year-old Oak Forest boy and his alleged confession came while behind bars serving a 60 year sentence for the deviant sexual assault of another young boy.

Now, if convicted on this new violation, he could be in prison for life.

In 1980, Rice told a judge in the Markham branch of the Cook County Circuit Court that he couldn't forgive himself for his role in a hit-and-run that killed Edwin Gulbransen.

Now, 28 years later, new evidence has persuaded prosecutors to charge Rice with first-degree murder in Edwin's death.
