Boy Arrested After Allegedly Pointing Toy Gun at Motorists

Mundelein police arrested a 17-year-old boy after he allegedly pointed a toy rifle at other motorists on Saturday afternoon.

According to police, another motorist called 911 after seeing a passenger inside of a Honda Accord point a gun at them while wearing a Guy Fawkes mask.

Mundelein police spotted the car near the intersection of East Orchard Street and Route 45 and conducted a traffic stop, according to a press release issued by police. Police later determined that the gun was a toy replica M-16 rifle, and the 17-year-old boy was placed under arrest by authorities.

The boy, a Mundelein native who was not identified because of his age, will face three counts of aggravated assault in juvenile court, according to police.
