A 9-year-old boy was shot in the leg on the Near West Side late Saturday morning. He was an unintended victim the shooting, police said.
The boy was walking with his father around 11:35 a.m. in the 2300 block of West Adams when a gunman opened fire on a passing black four-door car, police News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney said.
The boy was struck "inadvertently" in the lower right leg, Sweeney said. He was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr., Hospital in good condition, according to police.
Police said the shooting was likely gang-related.
No arrests have been made. Area Central detectives are investigating.
