‘Book of Mormon' Landing in Chicago

The creators of "South Park" are taking their popular Broadway musical to the Windy City in 2012

Prepare yourself. The creators of "South Park" are heading to the Windy City with a satirical group of Mormon missionaries in tow.

"The Book of Mormon," the popular Broadway musical written by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez (known for his work on "Avenue Q"), will launch a new company in Chicago beginning in December 2012, Broadway in Chicago announced early Wednesday. The show will run for 12 weeks at Bank of America Theatre.

During its New York run, "Mormon" won nine Tony Awards among a pile of other accolades, including glowing reviews and an oft-sold out audience.

Think Chicago will love it too? Parker and Stone are prepared to make it so.

“We plan to be involved every step of the way just as we were on the Broadway production,” they said in a statement. “We’re incredibly excited about doing everything we can to deliver a great show for the Chicago audience.”

It's a long time coming, according Lou Raizin, president of Broadway In Chicago. “Since the show began there hasn’t been a day that goes by without questions from our patrons about
when the show is coming to Chicago," Raizin said. “We are thrilled."

Though tickets for the general public have yet to be announced, tickets for groups of 15 or more are available for purchase by calling Broadway In Chicago Group Sales at 312-977-1710.
