Police are investigating a fire after a body was found in a burning home in suburban Barrington early Saturday morning.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office was called to the 21000 block of North 21st Street in unincorporated Barrington at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday morning for a reported fire. Upon arrival, officers found a residence engulfed in flames.
After firemen put out the fire, authorities discovered a body in an upstairs bedroom. Police believe it was the body of the 88-year-old homeowner.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Criminal Investigations Division, the Barrington Countryside Fire Department and the Illinois State Fire Marshall's Office.
