Trains on Metra’s BNSF line were stopped Thursday afternoon due to an incident involving a pedestrian and a freight train.
Metra said train no. 1231, scheduled to arrive in Aurora just before 2 p.m., was stopped in Naperville due to “a pedestrian incident involving a freight train.”
The transit agency said crews were at the scene working to resume train operation but as of 2:15 p.m., the train remain stopped.
Further details on what happened weren’t immediately known.
Several trains were delayed heading into the evening rush hour, but just before 5 p.m., Metra said trains were operating on a normal schedule.
