BNSF Trains Halted After Metra Train Hits Pedestrian Near Lisle

A pedestrian was struck by a Metra train Wednesday morning, prompting all trains on the BNSF Railway to stop in west suburban Lisle.

The person was hit near Burlington Avenue in Lisle about 5:25 a.m. by a Metra equipment train, Metra spokesman Tom Miller said. The train was scheduled to become inbound train No. 1206 when it reached the Fairview Avenue station in Downers Grove.

As of about 5:30 a.m., all inbound and outbound Metra trains were halted near Lisle, according to Metra.

Passengers were encouraged to listen to platform announcements for the location and delay times of trains and refer to Rail-Time Tracker located on metrarail.com for current delay information.
