The Chicagoland Speedway will be glowing in the dark this summer.
Blacklight Slide, a traveling event that combines inflatable slides, glowing water, blacklights and DJs, is making a stop July 7 at the speedway, located 500 S. Speedway Blvd. in southwest suburban Joliet.
Participants can take unlimited runs down a slide filled with glow-in-the-dark liquid while blacklights around the event light everything up and DJs provide tunes.
Registration is $20 through Wednesday and then increases to $50. Every participant gets a glow-in-the-dark temporary tattoo and special edition towel. Proceeds benefit the Children’s Miracle Network in addition to a local charity.
This summer will be Blacklight Slide’s fourth time in the Chicago area, according to Justin Muir, media manager at the event’s organizer, Phoenix-based Cool Events.
Muir said he expects this year to have the highest turnout yet because the event is in July for the first time, instead of August or September.
