Blackhawks to Appear on ‘Road to the NHL Outdoor Classics'

The Chicago Blackhawks will battle the St. Louis Blues in the 2017 Winter Classic early next year, and as they prepare for their journey outdoors, television cameras will once again be there to chronicle the run-up to the game.

Those cameras will be there from the television program “Road to the NHL Outdoor Classics,” which will feature the Blackhawks, Blues, Detroit Red Wings, and Toronto Maple Leafs ahead of a pair of outdoor games that will kick off the New Year for the NHL.

“Just as the NHL Winter Classic has become a New Year’s tradition and annual high point of our season, the Road To series has become appointment viewing for sports fans each December,” said Steve Mayer, NHL Executive VP and Chief Content Officer. “This year, the series takes it to another level, chronicling four teams instead of two as they prepare for and compete in both the NHL Winter Classic and the NHL Centennial Classic.”

The Red Wings and Maple Leafs will battle outdoors on New Year’s Day in Toronto, while the Blues and Blackhawks will square off at Busch Stadium in St. Louis on Jan. 2, 2017.
