Blackhawks to Open Training Camp at Notre Dame

The team practiced there in 2013, will return to campus for three days

The Chicago Blackhawks will be heading back to school again this September when the team begins their 2014 training camp at the University of Notre Dame for the second consecutive year.

The practices, which will be held at the Compton Family Ice Arena, will begin on Friday, Sept. 19 and run through Sept. 21. Last season the team sold tickets to the event, with more information becoming available as the summer goes on.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to return to Notre Dame and their world-class facility,” Blackhawks VP and General Manager (and Notre Dame alum) Stan Bowman said in a statement. “We received an overwhelming positive response from our players and staff on their experience at Notre Dame last September and are looking forward to another great weekend to kick off training camp next season.”

For those unable to go out to South Bend for the practices, the team will also be hosting their sixth annual Training Camp Festival on Monday, Sept. 22 at the United Center. The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a Duncan Keith bobblehead, and tickets will cost $5.00 for the scrimmage and practice. Tickets will go on sale on July 18 at 10 a.m., and can be purchased by visiting the team’s website.
