Throughout the history of hockey, there have been a lot of great lines, and with those lines comes the nickname tradition.
For the Blackhawks, some of the memorable threesome nicknames include: “The Clydesdales Line,” which was named after each player in the line weighed roughly 200 pounds; “The Million Dollar Line,” which consisted of Bobby Hull, Murray Balfour and Bill Hay; “The MPH Line,” which used the intials of the players’ last names—Pit Martin, Jim Pappin and Dennis Hull-- to parallel them with “miles per hour;” and “The Scooter Line,” which included Doug Mohns, Stan Mikita and Ken Wharram.
It appears the Blackhawks are now asking fans to help nickname one of their starring lines in their latest series with the Los Angeles Kings.
The team took to Twitter Saturday to ask fans to help nickname the Andrew Shaw, Brandon Saad and Patrick Kane line, noting that while the three haven’t had much history together, their performance in Games 5 and 6 is too notable to ignore.
The Mutt and the Mullets. Not much history, but they've been so good they need a nickname. We submit: #HustleAndFlow pic.twitter.com/LB9nHUiVJy — Chicago Blackhawks (@NHLBlackhawks) May 31, 2014
While the team’s official Twitter page submitted “Hustle and Flow” and hinted at "The Mutt and the Mullets," several fans have weighed in with their suggestions.
