Blackhawks' Andrew Ladd Welcomes Third Baby After Tense Game 1 Loss

If Wednesday’s overtime loss with just one goal scored wasn’t dramatic enough for Hawks fans, Andrew Ladd’s story certainly was.

Ladd left St. Louis early Wednesday when he got word his wife Brandy was going into labor a month early with the couple’s third child. He then decided to return to St. Louis when it looked like things “calmed down.”

“It was a boost,” teammate Brent Seabrook said of Ladd’s return Wednesday night.

He arrived 50 minutes before puck drop and played in the game. Meanwhile, his son, Walker Gordon Ladd, was born.

Ladd returned to Chicago immediately after the game to be with his family. He is expected to return for Game 2 Friday.

“He’s a true professional,” Duncan Keith told reporters Thursday.
