Chicagoans will be ringing in the New Year with a blast from the weather past.
While temps won’t dip quite as low as those in the polar vortex, which hit the area during the first week of 2014, wind chills below zero Wednesday will be a bitter reminder of how the Chicago area started the year off making weather history.
The Chicago area is forecast to see the coldest air of the season Wednesday with a high of just 16 degrees and wind chills potentially reaching 10 degrees below zero by midnight.
The bright note for the day will be the sunny skies.
Thursday looks to warm up slightly with a high of 28 degrees, starting off 2015 on a mild note.
The city is set to see temps in the 30s for the remainder of the week with a chance for a wintry mix and maybe even snow by the weekend.
There is potential for rain and snow Saturday that could result in accumulating snow by Sunday morning, but just how much snow the area could see remains unclear.
