Chicagoans will finally be able to eat, drink and “be Murray” this week with the opening of the second Murray Bros. Caddyshack restaurant.
The restaurant, run by legendary comedian and actor Bill Murray and his five brothers, will on Tuesday start serving up “Caddyshack”-themed eats at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel, 5440 N. River Road in Rosemont, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Another Murray Bros. Caddyshack has been open at a golf resort in St. Augustine, Florida, since 2001, but now the Wilmette-native Murrays are bringing it home. The local location was originally set to open last winter after the brothers proposed the opening in December 2016.
The Rosemont location inhabits an 8,600-square-foot space and will act as the Crowne Plaza Hotel’s flagship restaurant. Movie posters and more than 30 TVs will adorn the walls, and a shop in the restaurant will sell souvenirs such as T-shirts and golf memorabilia, according to the Tribune.
The St. Augustine location’s website describes it as a full-service casual dining experience that presents the brothers’ love of golf in a way that is fun for both avid golfers and families. The menu there includes burgers, waffles, tacos, Chicago-style hot dogs and an “Ode to Home” Italian beef sandwich.
Murray’s brother Andy and entrepreneur Mac Haskell first envisioned the restaurant as an “extension of our living room” in the late 1990s, according to the Murray Bros. Caddyshack website. It is “designed to look and feel like a country club gone awry," the site says.
The original "Caddyshack" film, starring Bill Murray, released in 1980 and went on to become a comedy classic.
