Man Pulled from Belmont Harbor Dies

Identity of man, believed to be in his 30s, not released Thursday evening

A man died Thursday afternoon after being pulled from Belmont Harbor, authorities said.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was initially hospitalized in "very critical" condition after he was pulled from the water about 5:30 p.m., authorities said.

He was found and taken to St. Joseph Hospital, according to the fire department. Fire officials began performing CPR while on the way to the hospital.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital just after 6 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

His identity was not immediately known.
