The Chicago Bears are still hoping they can get tight end Trey Burton on the field this week against the Denver Broncos, but they’re still taking things slowly with him as he was limited in the team’s first workout of the week.

Burton, who missed the Bears’ Week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers with a strained groin, was listed as a limited participant in the workout at Halas Hall on Wednesday afternoon.

The tight end has not appeared in a game since last season, and underwent sports hernia surgery over the offseason.

The Bears also listed defensive tackle Eddie Goldman as a limited participant as he deals with an oblique issue. Goldman did play in the Bears’ first game of the season last week, but the team will likely take things slowly with him, as he’s an instrumental member of the team’s ferocious pass rush.

Offensive lineman Rashaad Coward, who missed the Bears’ Week 1 game, was a full participant in Wednesday’s workout, and could make his season debut on Sunday against the Broncos.

The Broncos have yet to officially release their injury report for Wednesday’s workout.
