Bears Experimenting with D.J. Moore

D.J. Moore is a standout among the Bears secondary, but the Bears don't want to limit him just to nickelback.

Even though he played in fewer games in 2011 than he did in 2010, he recorded more tackles and the same amount of interceptions and defensive touchdowns. He had two picks during Bears minicamp. The Bears want to figure out the best way to feature him more in 2012.

"You possibly could see him on the outside a little bit," Smith said. “He’ll tell you he can play any position on the football field. He’s not a guy that is lacking confidence, and I think he can. He’s got great quickness and, as I said, great hands. He plays the ball well. There are a lot of things you look for on the outside he can do.”

If the Bears figure out the right way to move him around, it will help them utilize a group that has impressed Charles Tillman. Going into his tenth season with the Bears, Tillman said this is the best secondary he's seen since playing in the NFL.

“In my 10 years of being here,” Tillman said, “I think this is the best group of corners we’ve had in just overall talent. Now, they’re still learning the defense, but as far as a talent standpoint, I think this is by far the best group of talented young men we’ve had.”
