In this edition of Bears Bites, we take a look at some of the stories surrounding the Chicago Bears as they prepare for the beginning of training camp on Friday morning.

  • We start out with our friend DJ Durkin, who has been breaking down all of the Bears’ rookies, as well as their chances of making an immediate impact on the team. In this edition, he profiles quarterback David Fales, who doesn’t seem to be in the early running to grab the back-up spot with the team as Jordan Palmer and Jimmy Clausen do battle. [CBS Chicago]
  • Adrian Wilson signed with the Bears, and some fans may not have thought much of it, but the safety clearly wants to prove his doubters wrong and to win a starting job with the team. [CSN Chicago]
  • The Bears may have gotten bit hard by the injury bug on the defensive side of things last season, but their offense remained largely unscathed (excluding Jay Cutler). It’s highly unlikely they’ll get that lucky again. [Daily Herald]
  • Clausen may not be getting the first shot to be Jay Cutler’s back-up, but that didn’t stop the former Carolina Panthers quarterback from using Cutler’s knowledge of Marc Trestman’s system to get him an inside edge on the competition. [ESPN Chicago]
  • Speaking of Cutler, he has a message for any of his teammates that think they are going to be Super Bowl contenders: don’t get ahead of yourselves. [Chicago Sun-Times]
  • Who will make an impact on the Bears’ roster outside of the top-tier guys? Here are five under-the-radar guys who could be in for big seasons with the team. [Chicago Tribune]
  • Finally, there’s some news from outside of Bears camp, as Marshawn Lynch will not report to training camp for the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks as he seeks a new contract. [Shutdown Corner]
