The Chicago Bears have agreed to terms with veteran cornerback Charles Tillman for the 2014 season. Terms of the one-year deal were not made immediately available from the team.
“Charles is one of the NFL’s great players and a true leader on and off the field and we’re happy he will be staying in Chicago,” Bears General Manager Phil Emery said. “He remains the best in our game at forcing turnovers and always has brought a tough, physical presence to our secondary. Charles also has a special connection to the people and community across Chicago and we’re excited for that to continue.”
Tillman, 33, won the NFL's 2013 Walter Payton Man of the Year award and has visited the pro-bowl twice, in 2011 and 2012 respectively. He's also credited with the fifth most tackles in Bears history.
The free agent cornerback visited the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier in the week but left without a deal. Tillman missed the final seven games of the season with a torn triceps and battled a knee injury all season.
