Police say a Rockford Catholic priest exposed himself to a gas station employee in March.
Aaron Brodeski, 44, a priest in the Rockford Diocese assigned to the Batavia parish, is charged with two misdemeanor counts of public indecency.
Winnebago County Sheriff's deputies were called to the Road Ranger gas station on a report that a man exposed himself inside the store and while parked in a vehicle in the parking lot.
The offender had left the area by the time deputies arrived, but employees were able to obtain a license plate number.
Brodeski turned himself in after an arrest warrant was issued on Friday.
He was placed in the Winnebago County Jail. It's not clear if he posted bond.
Police say the Rockford Diocese and Bishops were cooperative during the investigation.
According to Rockford NBC affiliate WREX-TV, Brodeski was a monsignor in the Church that served as a priest of the diocese since 1998.
The Diocese issued a statement saying it was informed of the investigation last month, and Brodeski agreed to be immediately placed on leave from his assignment at Holy Cross Parish in Batavia. He was sent for evaluation and possible treatment for "any difficulties affecting his conduct and ministry," and will remain on leave "during this process," according to the Diocese.
