FBI: Same Man Robbed Five Banks

TCF Bank branches robbed Sunday, Monday

The Federal Bureau of Investigation said Tuesday it believes the same man has robbed at least five Chicago-area banks in the past few weeks.

The latest robbery happened Monday afternoon at a Near West Side TCF Bank, located inside a Jewel-Osco store. The man entered the bank, pulled a semi-automatic gun from his waist, and got away with some cash.

No one was injured, but the FBI says the man should be considered "armed and dangerous."

The same man is wanted in four other recent robberies, including TCF Bank branches in River Forest on Sunday and in Darien on Feb. 11, according to a release from the FBI.

He is also suspected of robbing a U.S. Bank branch in Bolingbrook on Jan. 27 and another U.S. bank branch in Bolingbrook on Jan. 15, the release said.

He is described as a white man, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 with a medium build. He was wearing a black and gray jacket with black body and gray sleeves, and has also worn a solid black jacket, black knit cap, rectangular wire framed glasses, black gloves and blue jeans.

Anyone with information should call the FBI at 312-421-6700.
