Thick, black smoke billowed from a burning building Monday night on Chicago’s South Side as first responders scrambled to extinguish the flames.
No injuries were reported in the 4200 block of South Ashland Avenue as the fire continued to rage about 9:23 p.m in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. Flashing lights from emergency response vehicles stood in stark contrast to the acrid clouds pluming into the night sky.
