Woman Killed, Husband and 1-Year-Old Son Wounded in Shooting: Chicago Police

A shooting on Chicago's South Side left a woman dead and both her husband and 1-year-old son injured early Monday, according to police.

Authorities said the shooting took place at around 12:41 a.m. in the 11700 block of South Laflin Street in the city's West Pullman neighborhood.

The family was sitting in a parked car when someone in a dark-colored sedan opened fire on their vehicle, according to Chicago police.

The 33-year-old woman was shot in the abdomen and back and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, officials said. The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the fatality and further information, including her identity, was not available.

The woman's husband, a 34-year-old man, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

The couple's son, a 1-year-old boy, was shot in the knee and taken to Comer Children's Hospital where he was listed in stable condition, according to police.

No one is in custody in connection with the shooting, according to Chicago police, who continue to investigate.
